Many of you may know this but if not,,you need to !! I know many people will get on the roads even in blizzard conditions !! If you must travel one thing you need in an emergency kit,,An old 1 lb metal coffee can with plastic lid,, two if you can find them or any metal can about that size and lid to fit,, two or three bottles of rubbing alcohol,, couple of rolls of toilet paper,,and a good size piece of heavy duty aluminum foil and about a 10" square of wood,,plywood will do ans a bic cigarette lighter !! I hear of people getting stranded in the snow and freezing to death every time something like this happens. So here is what you can do to make your own heater without running the car engine (dumb thing there) !! Take the toilet paper and insert it tightly into can making sure it is slightly below the top and fits fairly tight. Then if you get stranded or stuck pour alcohol on top of the toilet paper until it is absorbed, you do not want excess alcohol in the can,,pour back any excess !! Open windows on both sides of vehicle for cross ventilation about a half inch !! Light the top of the burner and place it on the wood for stability !! Make sure flame is blue with very little red,,if too red open windows a little more !! Tin foil is to place over top to extinguish flame, or anything metal can be used !! Replace plastic cover when cool !! The bottom of this heater does not heat only the top !! Make sure flame is out and top is cool before refilling !! These last quite a while and should only be used in emergency situations !! As long as flame is blue which means it is burning completely,, no carbon monoxide is produced !! But always use with cross ventilation !!
We used to use these heaters in deer stands !! Will keep you from freezing to death !!
