whisky jug?
« on: March 31, 2015, 02:25:55 am »
I found this old jug. it still has most of the cork but its quite rotten so it must be pretty old.. it has some writing on it but i cant make it out fully. there are two initials, then wilson ltd co. underneath it says saint and then the rest is unreadable but i assume thats the place it was produced. anybody know anything about this and what it might be worth? http://imgur.com/nHUsjoM

I have jugs. Oops that doesn't sound right! ;D I think that it's worth $75.-$100. If you could figure out what it says it could be worth more.

These are known as salt glazed stoneware jugs,  crock jugs.  Many times a number was put on them to indicate the volume such as a 1, 2 or 3 for the gallons it holds.  The ones that I see that go for the highest amounts are ones with wide mouth openings, well known names (regional or national).

If you could post a better picture (take in natural light without flash) someone might be able to help you figure it out!

BUT, TRY LOOKING AT THIS...bet it is the same as your jug (HW Wilson Co LTD, Saint John, NB)

They look like small jugs. II guess my jugs are larger. I had a bottle collector at my house and he gave me the prices.
