Hmmmmmmmmmm, I thought occupied Japan was after WWII. Keep in mind my area of research is Bohemian porcelain.
I just looked it up on Gotheborg.com. Here is a quote:
"
'Occupied Japan' (OJ) is a term used for the time period from 1945 (after World War II) through April 25, 1952; it was during this time that the Allies "occupied" Japan. "
What is it worth I don't know, [deleted some text]
Do a search on
occupied japan porcelain with
Google and the second item that comes up will be an explanation about this and how to tell if it is authentic or a repro.
I have been communicating with the seller of this item. He seems sincere. He does not know what it is and is correcting his listing. He even plans to buy some polish remover to see if the mark is removable.
Go for it and save the gentleman a trip to the store.
