« on: December 07, 2015, 04:36:31 pm »
i need help on this metal shade lamp i acquired at an estate sale about a week ago. there was 2 of them and i got them both for 20 dollars. there in really nice shape and no damage at all to both of them.the shades are metal and are engraved in a Japanese looking scenery?  i only took a picture of one cause there is no need to take the picture of the other one cause its identical to the one in the picture! any information would be appreciated. thank you! the base of the lamp is engraved also!

I would guess 1960s. Looks like you got a good deal!

I had two similarly made back when I had my shop !! The base is black lacquered over brass,, the design is etched through the paint to create the pattern !!  Mine had silk shades and a bit different shaped base !!  They were nice and brought good money back then !! This is the first I have seen like them !!  The shade is metal??

Keep in mind that this was the early 80`s but I think it was about $75. and that was pretty good for that time !!

Was trying to think of the name for etching/engraving of this type art...it is Chokin!
