Cool Trunk has been in family long time
« on: February 29, 2016, 03:28:07 pm »
Here's an old trunk that has been in my family for about 5 generations.

As you can see, it has been repaired a few times (originally with brass plates), then
with some copper plates, then black hinges.
If I remember right it came from my great, great, grandfather.

I just like the way it looks, not too complex with the design, nor plain.....

It's 43" long x 21" wide x 18.5" high.

If someone could give me rough date range that would be great.

Does it have the aroma as being constructed of camphor wood?

I'm not sure what that is.
It does have a strong odor.
When I get home, I'll have to look camphor wood up.

Canphor has a smell similar to Vicks Salve !! Hard to estimate age with all the additions and repairs but my guess would be approx. 1920`s !!
