blue speckled enamelware bucket with interesting handle
« on: March 28, 2016, 09:40:42 am »
Good Morning
I have been researching (to no avail) this blue speckled enamelware bucket.  It has a pouring spout and a wire bail and wood handle.  The handle allows you to pour with one hand by squeezing the top wire and wood handle together.  (It cause the bucket to tip and pour)

Does this type of handle have a name?  Do you have any information about this piece?

Thank you so much for your help,
Barbedj

I have never seen that type of handle !!  Is there a patent number on it ??  We have a few members that are familiar with graniteware,, maybe they know what it is !!

WOW, that is really unique.  :D :D

I have never heard of a "pouring" bail like that, let alone ever seeing a picture of one.

Do ya'll think it had another bucket/pail that fit above and the handle "locked" them together (like the principal of the enamel Tiffin lunch boxes?)

Now I wasa thinking, ……. maybe it is a “specialty” kitchen utensil.

I can envision it being made specifically for ….. dipping “HOT” water out of a boiling pot on the stove and topping-off the contents of a couple dozen Mason canning jars that are sitting on the kitchen counter/table awaiting their red rubber jar-rings and lids.

ps: I've watched my mommy do that very thing hundreds of times, but she used a handled (coffee) cup. ;) ;) ;)
