Haviland ID
« on: August 28, 2016, 02:58:06 pm »
I asked the Haviland Collectors, and they gave me an ID of Schleiger 266, but which one? I have not seen any in this color, have checked all I could find online at replacements.com and the Haviland pattern book online. Has anyone seen these colors or have any ideas?
Roses are blue with green shading, smaller flowers are a brownish-purplish (burgundy??) and the leaves are green and purple.
According to the mark it was decorated for sale at a store in Mansfield, Ohio, called Harroun and Co. They started business in 1873 as Harroun and Hammond, closed in Dec 1929 as H. Harroun and Co. I know they sold a lot of tableware, but have not seen any others in this pattern, nor carrying the decorator mark like this one.

Well,, it says decorated "for" rather than decorated "by" so I assume Haviland did the decorating according to their specifications !!

http://www.havilandonline.com/havpiece.htm

Read about the identification here as well as the schleiger numbers and you can see why Haviland is so hard to pin down !!  So many variations its almost impossible !!  They used different arrangements of pattern and as many  as 6 to 12 other variations per piece !!  I personally would not even try to find another exact one !! It doesn`t make much difference in value if the flowers are blue or purple !! Would be the same value as others with the same shape, same time period, ect !!
