Antique jugs
« on: January 29, 2017, 07:50:43 am »
I haven't dealt in antiques before so I appreciate your help.  I have done some preliminary research on Ebay for similar looking jugs and what I have determined is that the smaller of the two jugs is a Western Stoneware jug which is probably ~ 75 years old.  The smaller jug has the Western Stoneware logo stamped on it.  The larger jug has a "4" stamped on the outside which I believe represents plant 4 of the Western Stoneware company.  I haven't been able to find any similar jugs with the "4" stamped on them for price comparison.
I received these from my dad and he didn't really have much info on where they came from or the age.  I am looking to sell them and need some idea of the worth of each.  Also, would it be more advisable to sell on Ebay or at a local antique shop?
Thank you.

You didn`t say how big this jug is but usually the number on the outside is the size of the jug or crock !!  4 gallon, 8 gallon, ect !!  Look for Western Stoneware #4 jug or 4 gallon jug and you should find others marked similarly !!

Check ebay to see what any of them are selling for !!  Might do better just using your local Craigslist !!
