This is an allegorical portrait of Abraham Lincoln formed by the script of the "Emancipation Proclamations". The lithograph, design engraved with steel pen by R. Morris Swander, was engraved by P.S. Duval Philadelphia, Swander, Bishop. It appears to have been printed in 1865 and measures (in frame): 20" X 3/4" X 25-1/2".
As I was hesitant to take the lithograph out of the frame, the pictures were taken thru the glass and there is some reflection. There are no water marks, but I do see some "whitening" in the bottom portion. I'm not certain to the cause of this.
I was only able to locate one similar on line:
http://caseantiques.com/item/lot-653-lincoln-emancipation-proclamations-lithograph/It appears to have sold in 2012 at Case Antique for $812.00 in 2012 at auction through Case Antiques. So, with that being said, I'd like to know what you think the value is today of the lithograph in the pictures. And, also what do you think is causing the whitening and how can I prevent it?
Thanks for your help!
