Tang style horse

I bought this horse on Ebay. Thought it looked Chinese. I don't think it's bronze, maybe iron? A magnet will stick to it. Looks like two halfs brazed or welded together. Just a cheap modern decorative item?

I say it is iron.  It looks like you have some red oxide formed there.  And, you already mentioned it is magnetic.  I can see why you thought it looked like a Chinese style horse:

The welding on the bottom of your horse looks like it was performed in increments as one would do with cast iron.  Welding cast iron is a precision task that requires high heat, and often expensive equipment.

For this reason, I would say your item is more modern.  But, I really like him a bunch!

Nice Piece. Agree it looks more modern in construction.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Yeah I like it. It would have been neat if it was an actual antique piece, but it was inexpensive enough
