Hi everyone,

Can't find much on this little jewel.  Hoping someone can help identify. Hoping to determine possible century it was in circulation.  I found this sometime ago in Central Georgia (USA).  It is made of concrete, measuring approximately 8" x 6, heavy little booger.  It could easily be mistaken for iron.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SophieMarie....Than k you for the links. You are right on target!  Undoubtedly it appears it was painted green.  A garden statue, heavy patina with DUST/DIRT covering before I gave it a good dry brushing.  The interesting thing to me is the antique green colored paint.

I once purchased a large concrete bullfrog at an estate sale that musta weighed 40+ pounds. I painted it up to look like a live frog and sat it just off the sidewalk leading into my basement AS. It looked real enough to "spook" the Robins looking for earthworms.

I don’t recall what happened to it …… so it must have been stolen or a “antiquer” customer liked it better than I did. ;D ;D

One year I bought hubby a concrete alligator realistically painted for a decoration at our farm pond !! Then I painted a sign " Please do not feed the alligator" and posted it by the drive leading to the pond !!  We did this to prevent a few people who did not have permission to fish from throwing trash as well as other stuff around and in the the pond !!  Two elderly ladies who had permission and fished there regularly read the sign and saw the concrete alligator were told about what we did !!  They refused to believe there were no alligators in our pond !!  Took a year before they would fish there and then they sat a good 10 or 12 feet from the waters edge,,just in case !!

This is Great!!!  I am really enjoying the stories associated with this statue.  I've seem many different garden statues similar but not painted.  It is possible that it was painted by previous owner or maker.  Doesn't seem too modern though.  The garden statues of similar bunnies in the links from SophieMarie looks modern with lower quality than this one.  Just can't nail down possible year of circulation.

DANTES, ...... if you could just find an ole timey sandstone “chimney stone” (with the flue hole thru it) to go along with your rabbit, …….. then you could tell everyone it was the rabbit’s hole;D ;D ;D

In the old times, when “flue pipe” wasn’t available, square sandstone blocks were cut, like 12” by 12” by 14” long, with a 6” or 8” holes cut thru their centers, then stacked one atop the other for the stove or fireplace chimney.

Mart... I was hoping and thinking it had to be a least vintage....Just had that look and feel about it. Thanks for your feedback.

In the 40`s and 50`s many still used doorstops !!  My grandmother just used an old flat iron !!  Late 50`s and 60`s more got into garden decorating as I remember !!  Not to say some didn`t earlier than that but it just became more popular later !!
