Short article about celery glass
« on: February 05, 2018, 12:41:29 pm »
Hello everybody!!
Long time, eh?
I still lurk, but I really don't have much to contribute.
Until now!!

I thought this article was interesting about the history of celery, and thus, the glass.
I hope you all find it interesting, also.

Well how interesting !!  I have threatened to try to grow it here but haven`t had the nerve yet !!  Maybe I need  a celery vase just in case !!  But more likelyI would just throw it in a mason jar and forget it !!  Thanks Raven !!  Always interested in those special Victorian dishes !!  Way too many for me to remember though !!

I am a collector of spooners and so many times celery vases aka Celery Glasses are touted as spooners.  So, only one in the know could really differentiate - stem length, cup depth/length, etc.

They are still collectible!!!

Good to know, KC.
I think I have a celery glass buried somewhere in the house.
I haven't researched any of my glassware in months.
I really need to get back to that.

Mart, I sent a friend a packet of celery seeds that I had gotten as a free gift from a seed catalog.
Not one stinkin' little seed sprouted.

The great thing about celery is that it is one of the wonderful items that you don't need seeds to grow!  Just save the "base" of a stalk/cluster of celery and place in a shallow dish with water/sunny location. Within the week you should see new growth sprouting!  The plant that keeps on giving! (Same thing with green onions!)
