Old, old bed

Mrs. Emily also gave me this bed. I know it's not worth anything, but thought I would share because her great grandfather made it....Mrs. Emily is 79....

Now you are getting into my territory !!  You might be surprised at what some of those country primitives sell for !!  Thanks for posting it !!  I would rather buy something like that than a store bought bed !!

Me too. Her husband said he was so glad that I was taking that bed...he hated it. I told him a good cleaning, light coat of stain and it would be perfect. She has another one, but it's messed up....i think it can be fixed...so I may go back and get it too.

You're right about fixing it up, Kathy. It looks like it was made ca. 1890. Eastlake style with "spoon" carvings. Nice!

ghopper...Mrs. Emily is 80 and her great grandfather made it...so I was thinking it was older, but you guys know soooo much more about this kinda thing than I do. Lol. Anyway, I really like it....going to clean it up and use it in my son's bedroom.

I wouldn't apply any stain.  :( :(

A good cleaning via use of Murphy's Oil Soap and then a good "wiping" down with Old English (clear) Furniture Polish and it should look great.

Iffen you prefer a "darker" look, ..... then use the Old English (dark).

I applied the dark Old English on one small area last night and it looked good. So, I am going to clean it good and apply the dark Old English. There is nothing better than Murphy's Oil Soap and Old English...better than sliced bread.😁

I will post pics when i finish it. There is a another bed he made that needs a little work and a mirror to a dresser that matches it....but no dresser.
