Need Help With Identifying Maker of Tea Cups/Creamer/Sugar Dish
« on: February 24, 2018, 03:33:18 pm »
Hello everyone,

I am not having much luck identifying these items.  I have 4 tea cups with 1 creamer and 1 sugar bowl.  Cups measuring approximately 3" x 4 1/2" and creamer 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" with sugar bowl 6 1/2" x 4". Picked up at Goodwill, excellent antique, vintage condition.  Floral design with heavy gilt with pink watteau.  They are unmarked. I found similar items with focus on handles, but I can not nail down the maker.  I am hoping someone can help me.  I've looked at Haviland, Dresden, Sevres, Continental Porcelain, Occupied Japan to name a few. Does anyone recognize the pattern?  Your help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Also the gilding has the Satsuma dots which added to my confusion.

Dante’s,

Not sure the manufacture either. The gilding is so bright, it makes me think of that “22 karat gold guaranteed” gilding.  They started using that in the 1930’s and after.
Plymouth, America's Home Town.

There use to be a lot of Asian exports of tea sets.  That might explain the dots in the pattern.  Many of the factories probably weren't branded.

Dantes,

While you were focusing on the handles, I was trying to find a pattern with a floral cartouche.  The only one I have found so far (and it is not your pattern/set) is Nippon.  Have you found any similar with the oval and gold guild/dots?

Oh yes! Nippon could be a possibility, I also thought Imari, Royal Crown Derby, all Asian exporters.  Thanks for leads.  You too Icegold10.  As mentioned a lot of the Asian exports were unmarked with a heavy gilt presence.  Thanks again.

BTW....I mentioned Royal Crown Derby (which is English) because it was often consider the Old Imari.
