Very different from the tea carts we have seen !!  I said likely for restaurant use !!  Drinks on top, pastry in the center enclosed section and dirty dishes from tables on bottom !!  What do you think ??  What was the French maker we discussed in an earlier post ??  Cant remember the name !!

"Maison Jansen" is probably the name you are thinking of.

Hey Mart! Nice tea/pattisserie cart.  Made in the French style.  NOT RARE (but isn't the most common affordable-to-the-general-population open style)!  All the glass should be beveled.  Note:  Italians also had similar carts but with a little more flare added.

I would have to have a better close up of the item and see any markings.

This style was used in Patisseries, Restaurants etc to protect the pastries/sandwiches from flies and the elements (many had/have open windows and outdoor patios/gardens.)  However, there were others made similar to hold cups/saucers and/or glassware.

I have also seen these described as a vitrine on a tea cart (someone reaching for a description!) or a bar cart.  Nowadays these are generally use by individuals as bars/display and are ususally touted as Hollywood Style to appeal to buyers.  However, they are still being used in Europe as a elegant necessity for tea/fine dining.

The only one I have seen just like this on the internet   - the pictures all link back to 2 Dallas Antique Dealers and 1st Dibbs!  (Those Texans!)  Seems one antique store had it and another bought it  (or they opened under another name)- just raising the price.  (Ranging from $2,400 to $4,600)

I would say those prices are mighty steep in today's market.  Although this is a unique tea cart/trolley and not able to fit into just any home/restaurant setting.  Just off hand in a good market you should be able to buy this for $1K to $3K IF IT IS ORIGINAL AND YOU CAN TRACE IT BACK to one of the coveted cart makers you could get a bit more.

The first one's pricing I find humorous!

Yes, and they can be traced back to Dallas.  So the seller moved around Antique Malls/Stores or it changed hands an awful lot!

I have actually found recently that people are cross posting items on Etsy, Ebay and Auctions sites!  I have personally watched 3 items (all same sellers for every site, different pricing on each site, etc.)

:(

Ohhh !! Thats why !!  Wonder what would happen with two sales at the same time for different prices ??  Take the higher of the two and lie to the other one !!

That is what I am betting would happen.  Then they would only be out the listing fees on the sites that they didn't sell it through.

I know many places would not allow cross posting in the past - but that was when there were very few places on the internet and it would be easy to catch them.  Nowadays, there are so many places one couldn't keep up with all the sellers and their wares!

When I was last in France I saw many styles of these carts/trolleys still in use.  They are a staple item with open window and outdoor cafes, Brasseries and salons de thé.
