Handcrafted Authentic Mother of Pearl Clock
« on: October 24, 2005, 09:29:58 pm »
I have a Handcrafted Authentic Mother of Pearl Clock. The clock inserted is "Movements by Lanshire". This is a table clock. Electric. It is encased with many mother of pearl shells of all shapes, sizes and color. White, and browns. It weighs aproximately 10 lbs. It's 12 inches in hight and 8 inches wide. It's shape is somewhat like of a mantal clock except that it is taller and not as wide with a shape of it's own. I'm not sure how old but can narrow it down to about 70 years. Could be older but i don't know if the lady who owned it had it  passed down to her or not. There are no markings or signatures or dates. Except that it says Handcrafted, Authentic Mother of Pearl. Thankyou. Linda

In general, clocks by this maker sell in the under $50 range.  And it's called a mantel clock, or table clock.  KB

How about the many mother of pearl shells that the clock is made out of? I know the clock incert itself is not worth anything but this clock is made out of nothing but mother of pearl and weighing 10lb.

And these are the things that can affect value.  I didn't find a shell embellished clock by that maker.  It's possible that it's one of a kind, having shells placed over a plain case.

At this point, I would suggest a hands-on appraisal by a dealer who specializes in clocks.  Best wishes, KB
