DEPRESSION

DEPRESSION

It is the Religious belief itself that causes the depression because people spend far too much of their awake hours thinking about it.

When one is ...... "scared of living and afraid of dying" ..... it depresses the hell out of them.

Most anyone will tell you that they can get just as much or more “mentally tired” as they can “physically tired” …… but very few if any will associate that “mentally tired” condition with “depression”.

But that is exactly what it is except for the fact that the depressed person either doesn’t or won’t consciously recognize, or tell you, what it is that is making them “mentally tired”.

And the reason they don’t or won’t consciously recognize said “tiredness” is the fact that it is their subconscious mind that is “tired”, ….. not their conscious mind.

And what their subconscious mind is “tired” of is akin to ….. the re-playing of that “same ole tune over n’ over” that one keeps hearing in their head and they can’t get it to stop.

They can’t get it to stop until after they tell someone about it …. and when they do their subconscious mind will “hear” them talking and will quit re-playing that “tune”.

Or they can take some anti-depressant meds which will let their subconscious mind “rest” for awhile, ….. but just as soon as their “effect” wears off it’ll go back to playing “that same ole tune” again.

Cogar....are we COVID tired?  I have been sooooo busy helping shut ins, making food, hundreds of masks, etc.  I'll be glad when "normal" returns to get some rest!  :)

My favorite antique/vintage haunts are slowly coming back...but prices aren't reflecting the economy.  That's depressing!  :(

Mart, ….. my “why and wherefore on” the reason …… “I am mad as hell”, ….. is surely the same as yours is.

As a matter of fact, …… “I am mad as hell” ….. that our elected politicians, over the past 40 years, have permitted the lefty liberal, bleeding heart, Socialist believing “wackos” to take complete control of our Public School Systems …… which is the direct result of what is now occurring with the uncontrolled rioting, burning, looting and societal disruption in general, with the Rule of Law taking “backseat” to anything the ‘crazies’ want or demand.

The US social pendulum has done swung too far off center to the “left” to ever swing back on its own, …. therefore, unless COTUS Law and Order soon takes control, ….. there will be lots more anarchy actions and “blood in the streets” before a “new” regime takes control and re-writes the Laws.

And with the new regime will be "re-education" indoctrination camps for "certain" people, then death camps for those who disagree.

Yeah, depressing.

well,, you know i am in total agreement on thatone as well as others !!  but i have a new one,, yesterday i had surgery on my arm to remove the stainless steel plate used to fix my broken arm and had bone grafts on both bones !!  so this is going to be three to six months before anything gets back to normal here !!  problem was without falling or bumping in any way the SS plate broke while in my arm !!  the company rep. was there but do not know why other than if the surgeon called him !!   i told everyone i wanted to keep the broken plate !! except the surgeon who had two major operations brfore mine so just saw him a second and i was a bit groggy from the meds !!  the people told me after i woke up,, two stories,, not sure which is true,, said factory rep was going to take it to be analyzed,, then someone said it was in the trash !!  do not know more than that right now !!  i did go see a lawyer prior to surgery and had pics taken to document the arm !!  if i had taken the plate and put it on concrete and hit it with a hammer,, i dont think SS steel would have broken in half !!  yet it did while holding two pieces of bone together !!
so thats my mad as hell !!

Yeah, depressing.

You got that right, ……and Professor Peter Ridd who was sacked by James Cook University for speaking scientific truths will require a lot of "re-education" indoctrination if he has any hope of ever getting employed again.

And Peter Ridd is just one of thousands that have been fired ........ plus the millions that have "squatted and asked what color"......... just to protect their jobs.

No idea what "1619" was in reference to, ...... but in educational reality, ...... this is the major problem that US public education has to resolve, to wit, .... excerpted commentary published today:

Thomas Sowell: Black and minority lives would improve if politicians supported charter schools

Some of us think schools should be student-oriented. And official statistics show that students in charter schools in Harlem and other low-income minority communities in New York City pass the statewide mathematics tests at a rate more than 6 times the rate at which traditional public school students, housed in the same buildings, pass the same test.

Why then is Biden against charter schools? Because the teachers unions are against charter schools. And, unlike Black voters, teachers unions -- with millions of members who vote and millions of dollars to donate as political campaign contributions -- do not automatically give their support to either political party, without getting something big in return.

In New York City, there are more than 50,000 students on waiting lists to get into charter schools.  If they transfer to charter schools, in a city where per-pupil expenditures exceed $20,000 a year, that means a transfer of more than a billion dollars a year from traditional public schools to charter schools.

Is “Cancel Culture” what your "1619" was in reference to “in need of contending with”?

To wit:

Today, university campuses are the locus of a new, and sadly misguided movement, the Anti-Free Speech Movement. Some refer to it as “Cancel Culture”, which is ill-defined, but in essence, by whatever name, it is a movement spurred by the pernicious idea that one group of people should be able to dictate what other people are allowed to say, what opinions they are allowed to express, what they can write and the very words they are allowed to speak.  Writers and speakers that do not fit into a very narrow window of what is deemed “acceptable” by the Twitter-mobs are shouted down, dis-invited, slandered, libeled, subjected to calls for dismissal from their employment and have their very lives threatened.

Hmmm, at the risk of sounding like a "fogey," liberalism is not what it used to be.

Now, liberalism = Stalinism.

Anyway, "1619" is a book that swept the nation last year. I hear it's awful, and have not read it. My understanding, however, is that it posits that America was founded on slavery, more than anything else. Apparently its going to be a "must" text for schools in upcoming years. Needless to say, it gives rioters the excuse they need to "tear down America." You know, since it was founded on slavery and slavery is bad. Never mind all the good things America might stand for as well. Tear down those statues!

I found mention of the “1619 Project” …. in this Fox report, to wit:

Deroy Murdock: NYT's family ties to slavery, Confederacy, Jim Crow confirm paper's hypocrisy

NEW YORK — From high above the sidewalks of New York, America’s so-called “Paper of Record” peers down its nose with condescension at the nation whose news it deems “fit to print.”

It sees this country as a giant slave ship turned superpower that surges racism into every conceivable crevice in Earth’s crust. It slams America’s Founding Fathers who owned slaves; hammers New York Life Insurance, SUNY New Paltz, Georgetown University (my alma mater), and other institutions for their historical slave holdings, and even whacks President Abraham Lincoln for his “reluctant and late” signature on the Emancipation Proclamation.

As the New York Post’s Michael Goodwin observed, “The chief media cheerleader for the chaos unfolding across the nation…routinely eviscerates America’s heroes, its culture and, through the paper’s 1619 Project, its founding.”

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/new-york-times-family-history-hypocriscy-deroy-murdock

And a further search found this, to wit:

The 1619 Project is an ongoing project developed by The New York Times Magazine in 2019 with the goal of re-examining the legacy of slavery in the United States and timed for the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first Africans in Virginia.
