i have an antique chest that i don't know much about.  what i do know is that it is about 4 ft. tall has a door on the front with a shelf inside.  each pice of wood is numbered with the number 25 stamped into it.  the door has a flower/ leaf vine picture on it.  it is not painted it is small pieces of wood cut out into the leaves and such and placed into the wood of the door.  my question is does anybody have any idea of what this could be and where i could find some information about it.  thanks phil  e-mail me at psimmons5@comcast.net

.........it reads like a washstand. The numbered pieces are probably there to tell the assembler which pieces and style are to fit that particular piece. Washstands would have a certain number, wardrobes would have another number, etc. This is the way furniture was assembled in later years when assembly line work was done, much like Henry Ford did...............b ut it's difficult to determine without a photo.
