identifying old broyhill sofa
« on: November 19, 2005, 11:31:26 pm »
I am trying to decide whether or not it is worth reupholstering our old sofa or whether I should leave it on the curb.  It is an extra long sofa with detailed feet/frame.  It is a Broyhill made by the Lenoir chair company.

Frame #1783-44
Serial # 371456

It really is pretty but I think would be quite $$$$ to redo. Thank You for your help.

here's a site with Broyhill info and a question/answerforum.  It might help you.

The big question is:  do you love the size, the style, the color of the wood trim?  Have you picked out a fabric that's special to you and that you can't find in a ready made sofa?  And if you were to buy new would it be a similar quality piece of furniture with the same frame construction?  Remember that a great upholstery job entails more than just flopping on new fabric.  Many times the piece is literally rebuilt saving only the frame.  It would be like new.

Or would you be able to find a different style of great quality and perhaps arrange for your own fabric to be used, thus creating a custom piece.

Best wishes, KB
