Barrell Scales

We have scales from the Independent Scale Company in Asheville, NC.  They are similar to the standard antique barrel scales used in grocerys, but the barrel is vertical rather than horizontal.  The scales stand over three feet in height and are accented with brass and have a thick glass pedastal.  Can anyone tell me anything more about these scales?
