beautiful old Health O Meter scale 1921, value??
« on: September 06, 2011, 04:33:02 pm »
Hey folks. Found this scale at an estate sale a few weeks ago and Im wondering what a fair asking price would be. It came out of a local doctors office back in the 40's and apparently has been stored since. patent date is 1917-1921 original paint. I found a few of these on Ebay but they were really rough and the faces were covered in rust and faded, the sellers still were asking $75-$100 (dont know if any actually sold). your advice is welcome and appreciated, thanks!!

Im guessing that those prices you listed are pretty much the going price from what Ive seen. All in all, it is pretty cool. :)

What a great old scale, I love the look of it. Prices jump up and down on antiques so quickly that it's hard to say what you could sell it for today. I could tell ya what I would pay in it's (good) condition. I'd pay $75, assuming it still works and gives an accurate weight. Maybe others could give their opinions. :)

its still just as accurate as our current bathroom scale. this was the very first scale with the horizontal face on it, patents were still pending. The price in '21 for this was $10.85 and it was a "deluxe" model. I had hoped to get around $100 so its nice to know im in the ballpark. The original add read something like "Health, beauty, and happiness all depend on your weight" , glad that isn't true :D Thanks!
