Oranien vase
« on: May 13, 2006, 03:40:50 pm »
Hey all,

I have a very nice vase that has a stamp on the bottom that says Oranien the echt cobalt.  It is white with blue flowers and bees mixed in.  Does anyone know anything about Oranien?  I'm guessing it is German.

Thanks,
Joelyn

not much info out there - I found this set for sale on e-bay

http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-German-Oranien...6QQcmdZViewItem

for more info on Germany porcelain go here:

www.porcelainmarksa ndmore.com

I couldn't find it there either - you may have to e-mail Chris with pics or snail mail etc - his site is devoted to marks and history of the company, specializing in German porcelain - - I did learn that the word "echt" in German seems to mean "genuine" - - apologies to German speakers if I'm wrong - history on the word Oranien indicates it could be other than German - Belgian?  French?  References to a kingdom/dukedom in that area where the Eurpean countries converge -       KB
