walnut torchiere?
« on: November 08, 2006, 08:15:17 pm »

I purchased a tall, 5ft walnut stand that looks like a fern stand .
The guy I bought it from says it is a parlor torchiere from 1800.
Did they put a oil lamp on it ? Does any one know ?
I tried to search for one on the internet ,but no luck . Anyone know the value ?
Its a solid turned piece.
Thanks for any imfo ..

A torchiere is a lamp. Usually a tall stand made from wood or metal. early ones help a candle or several candles. Today they are of course electrified.
