My great grandfather was a senator in Texas in late 40s and early 50s. I have the chair that he sat in on the house floor dated 48-52? I think thats right. It has the state seal on the back of the chair and personal name plate on back with name and years. I doubt I would ever sell but I have no idea of the value, some seem to think it could be alot. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll take a shot at it........It's not antique so if I were buying 'just the chair' I would expect it to retail for around $50 in a shop or antique mall. With the provenance of the seal, etc. I would expect it to be about 3x's that or around $150............but it's only my opinion and keep in mind that's I'm not as interested in the chair as say someone in Texas might be.

I would have to agree with tim.it's a nice maple chair.and a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. it might be best to sell while you have a buyer. it's not what it's worth. it's what some is willing to pay at the moment.
