Oil on Canvas Painting of lighthouse signed Lee Reynolds

Very nice and very large oil panting on canvas

of lighthouse. It is signed Lee Reynolds

but IS NOT a Lee Reynolds painting.

It was painted by a staff artist at Vanguard studios

and is signed and numbered on the back

"DG 646.

I have also sent this painting to Lee Reynolds site

and I am posting the review from them.

REVIEW/COMMENT:

“Classic Early Artwork” This artwork is believed to have been

designed by Aldo Luongo a staff artist at the time. He is now a

widely collected artist. This work was very popular and

hundreds were produced. First produced around 1968.

lighthouse BY:Lee Reynolds

It is 61 X 49 X 11/2 deep

NEED HELP IDENTIFYING WHO DG IS THANK YOU

Lee Reynolds said that the 646 was for the number of paintings done by the artist that was how they got paid.  and the signature  was so they would know who to pay.   So the DG is the artist that painted it.

Okay, let me see if I have this right...or I'm confused.  The name at the bottom of the painting (LEE REYNOLDS) is the artist.  It is painting #646.  So if the artist signed the painting and his initials are LR then it can't be DG!  The DG should be the person who is moving/selling the painting for the artist?!

no your confused lol.... ok let me see if I can explaine a little better.. Lee Reynolds started an art school a long time ago.  The students were to paint copies of the work that was done by the artist which was Lee Reynolds.  The students copied the painting and the name on the front (lee reynolds)
The students were to put their name and the number of the copy on the back. thats how they got paid by how many copies they painted. So this painting was painted by DG and this was six hundred and fortysix copies that this DG painted.     I got all of this info from the Lee reynolds site that he has posted because of all the confusion with these paintings being signed Lee Reynolds but are not painted by him. This painting is posted on his site. He couldnt remember the names of the students at vanguard studios so he didnt know who DG was.
