any help grateful
« on: March 19, 2009, 01:23:01 pm »
Hi there im new to this forum so firstly hello everyone im Rachael,
Recently got quite a few items passed down to me through the family and im desperate to know about one particularity, Ive searched in vein to find out about the tea set but all i have come up with was a photo of the mark from the bottom and a date and manufacturers name, then i draw a blank nothing at all, my main reason to looking into this is to know weather i should get it insured as currently it is just sat ontop of one of my kitchen cupboards, so far this is what ive found about it...

about the company
1907 founded by Benjamin F Hunt & Son of Boston, who had previously had an interest in  Benjamin F Hunt & Son in Loket; its name was Egerlander Porcellanfabrik Elbogen, GmbH.
1908 the owners were Ludwig Engel & Son.
1911 Richard Kampf bought the factory and Richard Dieterle became a partner, the name was Porzellanfabrik Rudolf Kampf GmbH, Grunlas, and the brand RKG. The letters RKG represent Rudolf Kampf of Grunlas

date of the tea set
1928-1939

please any information or value would be gratefully received ive tried my best to get the best photos i can and also the entire set is intact with no marks or chips or anything.

You did your home work.it's a very nice Gold luster ware set. it's likely we could sell a cup and saucer at $25.00 to $35.00 Dollars per set. that value would be a brick & mortar shop.

Then we have e-bay. we could likely expect about half of that.

Those are lovely tea cups, and that is a understatement.  As DB said you did your homework well, left me with not much to look up, you have all the information right here. Yea for you  ;D.   I might push the value up a tid bit more then DB, but based on two things.  First and foremost would be their stricking beauty,  Second Czech markings always make the cup collector ohhh and Ahh a bit.   Yea the Brick and Mortar shop (love that metaphor) would get you $25.00 to $30.00,  but Ebay would eat them alive, those babies would get not just 2 bidders, but maybe More.  I just sold one almost as nice and got $20.00.  As a set they would sell well on consignment, maybe as fast as Ebay.   This can be important info, Sets are becoming rare, for the cup collector don't want four of the same on his shelf, They have room for one, and most Brick and mortar shop will split them in a heart beat, ebay will split them even faster, and if you want to be greedy you can make more, by breaking them apart.   This is the sad thing I have been discovering about this, So if you have a heart enough not to break them apart, Keep them or find someone who loves a set.  Those who want a set will care little for the marks and age as much as how they look,  and those have the look   ;D.   Sorry about the Psycho babble, but have been making this discovery lately and it is kind of sad,  You have a set, of really beautiful cup,
