Old flea market desk
« on: September 17, 2009, 04:39:31 pm »
I just bought this desk at a flea market for $25. Just wondering how old you think it might be, and what if any value it may have. The top drawer on the left is not original, nor I believe is any of the hardware. The original drawers are constructed with what looks to me like machine made dovetails in the front and also in the back. I think the whole thing is made out of some type of pine or other light wood. The finish is not original. I don't know about the pictures, but it's quite an attractive desk in person. Thanks!~

Closeups of drawers and underside might tell more. It appears to be late 1940's. Value not high because of the drawer and overall condition. Looks like an aniline dye on the finish. $25 is about right.

The $25 paid is a great price....as long as you are happy is what counts!  1940's - 50's approximately.
