Large Set of German Antique China
« on: September 27, 2009, 01:09:42 pm »
I have a set of about 85 pieces of antique china that I'm looking to learn more about.  On the back is a red circular marking that reads "J.C.L Harms Hamburg."  The pieces are white with green and gold around the rim and the letter "K" in a sort of ribbon design.  Most pieces are in good condition, although some have minor chips or fading of the detail.  I have not been able to find any information about this manufacturer or the pieces themselves.  I know very little about them or their age, other than they were purchased and brought over from Germany.  I am interested in selling them, so I would also like to know what they may be worth.  Thank you!

Hi,
I tried to find information about this specific set but it seems that the initials JCL are exclusive to a trading company that imports asian products...could just be asian dishes marketed in germany.

Good luck

I do believe that JCL Harms made lots of kitchen items....

But...I believe that our resident expert, Mr. Chris Marshall, is the one best to give the answer on this one....

Chris is likely to be along shortly.if that ''K'' is a monogram. it could make the set harder to sell. unless it pertains to and important person.

Just wanted to throw this in as I know nothing about china but found this while looking around.

Lot No. 52 mentions a piece made by KPM with a decorator's mark of JCL Hamburg.
