Jesus Chaulkware
« on: January 17, 2010, 03:36:27 pm »
Here's a item that I thought was pretty sad, although I hope I'm wrong on it.

Someone who IMO was very lonely wrote and rewrote, for over 60 years starting in 1931, on  how they were not lonely.

Reminded everytime this piece catches my eye on how brutal the world can be.

Like to think I learned a little something from this antique.

Wow!  Makes you wonder if they were praying to not be lonely (from loss of a loved one)!  Looking for refuge and this plaque hopefully helped them!

Kinda neat that it was chronicled for all of those years!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Oh Dean how heart breaking!!!! It does seem to me they were in such pain. How many people each day lose loved ones & ache from such loss.

The thought they had a loved one and there was a loss never occurred to me.

I just assumed this person for the most part, just felt alone in the world pretty much throughout their life (earliest date 1931-latest 2003).

Thanks for giving me a new perspective on how to look at it.

Looks to me like the writtings from the 1930's is in a steady young person's hand and the more recent  ones are in a shaky older hand.

Some of the ones in marker go over the earlier writings that were fading.
This person wanted these to be seen.

Wonder what the family thought after reading this when it came off the wall possibly after a death.

Hopefully this person is rewarded for their faith and it's a reminder to me that this kind of thing is out there.

Dean what do they all say the only ones I can really make out are 1931 & 2003. I agree the one from 1931 does look steady & strong and 2003 does look smaller & more fraile This piece has really touched me. Maybe it is from the recent loss of my mother, I have a very loving husband and 2 wonderful children but I guess there are many diffrent kinds of lonely. Thanks for posting this as it will be a reminder to me also!!!!

Wow, Dean, very intense. I have a hard time imagining this person's family letting such a thing go, although some people are not comfortable with the more graphic Catholic art sometimes. I'm glad you found it and have given it a new home. Thanks for sharing this one!

Wendy, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I'm glad you've got your husband and kids there with you. I think are parents stay with us in some form. I always felt like even though my dad was gone, I never felt like he loved me any less and it was like that part stayed with me and never left. Big hugs to you!!

Your mothers great quailties are still with you just as TOT7S mentioned.
I saw that when you posted your purse collection and mentioned how you learned allot from and with her.
I never thought of different kinds of loneliness but now that you mention it I see your right.
Guess try to live life happily the way she would have wanted it for you and your family and pass her awesomeness down.

Glad she showed you the world of antiques that brings your awesomeness to the forum.

I have a hard time imagining that also.
Maybe it brings back bad feelings for the family.
If I found this from someone I knew it would bring out feeling of blame and who would want it around to remind them?
Who really knows the whole story on it though.Just an item to maybe learn something by depending on how you take it.

Thank you Tales & Dean she was a wonderful person my father(who I miss greatly also) passed about 15 years before her at that point I moved back home with her. I then met my husband we purchased her property and built an addition onto her home to be close & help her. It was the best thing we ever did as we all spent time with her everyday, My 6 year old would get her up every morning and they would  have breakfast together. Wonderful memories!!! To be honest everyone here helped me more than you all know I found this site shortly after we lost her and in a wonderful way you all have kind of taken her place in the love of antiques we shared. So thank you to everyone here!!!!!
