Dealing with Ebay buyers 101
« on: April 12, 2010, 09:14:07 pm »
O.k  here is my story of the week, usually I run into a snag every couple of runs,  Well here is the one this week.  I sold a item that had a early bidder, for $5.00 + $6.00 shipping.  at the last minute someone out bid this bidder by .75.  Paid right away, but ask me for a cheaper shipping method.  Now here we have a situation.  First my shipping is a bit high.  The item I based on 1 lb. Parcel Post to the east coast.  I did the the item under 13oz packed safely.  So, if someone would of asked before bidding I would of lowered it, 6 bucks was a bit high.  The biggest problem is the bidder before the last minute was willing to pay for the item, but then the other bidder wants a discount that would get it cheaper then the original bidder.  Since she paid I just sent the package cheap.  Lets see how this one pans out.

Ironlord, if you have shipping in your listing posted as $6 for everybody, then that is what I would expect as a buyer/bidder to pay (plus the high bid value) if I won the item.  That is what I consider when I bid on something.  I would also expect that a handling fee is in that amount. After an auction is won is too late to negotiate in my opinion.  If a bidder contacted me plenty of time before the auction was over, then I could post the shipping question in the auction for all to see.  Then all bidders would know the shipping was negotiable and that would be fair.  I do not know how eBay's system works on a posted shipping cost if that can be modified after an auction is over.  Can you modify that at that point?

The only way to modify shipping after the item has been paid for is to give a partial refund.
