Do these Tables have any Antique Value

Hello,

I am posting photos of two tables that are similar to five others that I have.  I have just closed my retail store and these were used in our back room as work tables.  My earliest memory of these is in the mid 1940s.  My Dad used them as display tables, stacking pants and jeans on them for sale.  At that time almost no items were hung in clothing stores, at least not the moderate price stores.  They are very sturdy, although some have been reinforced or had a shelf added underneath.  They are well worn but have never been refinished as far as I know.  I don't know whether to try to sell them or use them for firewood.

They look like they're still sturdy & sevicable units ... what are the dimentions of your items ?

They appear to be oak , although i sure can't tell for sure .

Perhaps resale is a better way to go , vs. the fireplace .....?

I am not where the tables are at the moment so I have to guess, but they are about 5-7 feet long and 2 1/2 feet wide.  The height is a good working height for standing and about 3-3 1/2 feet.  I can measure tomorrow if needed.

Sounds like you could sell them as 'sorting tables' , as well as for the use that you were familiar with .

I don't see too much furniture like this , on the West coast , having much antique value .....one exception to that is for cabinetmakers/hobbists who 'recycle' & re-mill old growth planking & such ... if yours are solid one-piece topped , perhaps this is another way to sell them .

Let's just see what others here have to say on these .

Mark,  For Heaven's sake don't use them for firewood. 

Actually they have very nice proportions as best I can tell from the photos. 

I would try to sell them if they otherwise have no sentimental value to you.

Now for the $64 question:  What are they worth? 

Others better qualified than I can chime in, but they have to be worth in my area at least $50 each.  The ones that don't have the shelf added look better in the pics, so maybe take a bit less for the ones that have less eye appeal.  You might have a range for $35 - $75 depending on eye appeal and finish. 

I may be way off base here, but those are my best thoughts.  Certainly doesn't hurt to get a local auctioneer's opinion as well.

CAF is right, don't scrap them. Lots of people needs a good "work table" for their garage, basement, laundry room, yard sales, flea market, etc.

People will buy them but getting them home is sometimes the problem as to why they don't.
