TWA coffee cups and saucers
« on: May 27, 2010, 09:11:13 pm »
Anyone estimate the value of a complete set of the small coffee cups (not mugs) and matching saucers that TWA used in first class service in the early '70s?  I have a set that I won at a TWA open house on a 747 at O'Hare Airport in 1975.  They have never been used.  I haven't found any for sale on the web.

First Welcome to the forum adelia.  Sounds like you have something unique to say the least.  Is it possible to get pictures of your set of cups?  How many cups do you have, or what is a set?   And do you mean Demitasse size cups or just regular size tea cups?  Sorry for so many questions but all this is needed to get a ideal of the value.  Most tea cups go between $10 to $20, that is fancy pre 40's type of cups, most post 40's cup if not Fancy or extra fancy are hard pressed to get $5.00 each.  However you have a unique kind, that many cup collectors would love, not to mention the Aircraft collectors.  It is possible these would be easy to sale, thus the value could be in the $20.00 to $40.00 range each.  Keep in mind that most Cup collectors are not much intrested in a set as much as one.  Sets usually go for less, and if a dealer was to buy a set they would make their money back selling individual cups.  Once again welcome to the forum, and really looking forward to seeing or hearing more about your cups.

These type of items come up occasionally on eBay.  They are collectible - but not high dollar items.  Yours will be great since it has never been used.  I have some airline items.

A site that I have liked for awhile is:  http://www.airlinecollectibles.com/dinesvce2.htm
