Parlor stools and chair, Chicago Wire Co.
« on: May 26, 2010, 09:32:27 pm »
More stuff! This should be the last of the stuff for now, sorry to bombard you guys like this! These are a pair of stools and a chair by the Chicago Wire Co. The label is in fairly good condition on one of the stools, mostly rubbed off on the other, and I don't recall if the chair had one or not. I did find an approximation of value from a couple of listings on another antique site, but the ones pictures there appear to have been painted over, and so I was wondering if the value would be different for these, since they do not appear to have had any work done on them. The listings are here http://www.newel.com/PreviewImage.aspx?ItemID=3722 And here http://www.newel.com/PreviewImage.aspx?ItemID=3725

EDIT: Forgot the measurements:

Stools:

26 1/2" H
12" Seat Diameter

Chair:

36" H at top of back
18" H at seat
14 1/2" Seat Diameter

As always, your guy's input is appreciated!

Omega, what you have there are referred to as Ice Cream stools, chairs (and tables). They are called said because they were made primarily for use in ice cream parlors ...... and drug stores that had a soda fountain and served ice cream, etc.

just Google 'Images' ...... "ice cream parlor furniture

Found a couple that look to be by the same manufacturer.  Of course one is an asking price and the other requires contact for price.
Personally I love the original look and would want to restore one had it been refinished.

I had seen the ones with arms on them before... and the ebay listings must have been posted after the last time I looked ^_^;; Thank you, though, guys. You're very resourceful!

Hosman321, I'm located out of Michigan!
