Need Ideas

OK I have looked through pattern catalogues till my eyes are crossed. Does anyone know what this little piece is used for and possible pattern name?  Its heavier than other pieces of the same size and is sharp edged like cut glass. I have run out of ideas. It isn`t Fostoria, Indiana or Jeanette. It also isn`t Diamond Point pattern although the points of this extend outward. It doesn`t appear to be molded or blown in mold as there are no seams at all. The outside edge of the handle has  faint grind marks that can only be seen when turned a certain way in the light.  Ideas ???

Could also be a placecard holder if it is small and has a slot to hold a card.

No slot, and sorry, I forgot dimensions. It is 4 1/2 in square and 1 inch deep excluding the handles.  If its an ashtray it isn`t listed anywhere that I can find nor is it the size of most I have found. Most of the ashtrays I l;ooked at were 4 inches sq. and none had handles.

It does resemble an ashtray and it also looks like the two slanted arms might fit in something.

The handles have a slight depression in the top about the size of my thumbprint and same shape.

Betting it is a butter server.  They did make them with handles with slight imprint so easier to grasp and hand to the next person at the table!
