Yard sale cruet set
« on: June 21, 2010, 06:36:31 am »
My one weekend a month off and I just had to cruise the yard sales last week.  Need to wear sunglasses so I'm not
so attracted to the shiny stuff. Couldn't resist this, it'll fit in so nicely with my handed down silver/silver plate.

Only stamped mark is Quadruple Plated. Other than that there is the etched number 227 in various places and an etched
series of four number and a letter in at least two places.  Found the etched numbers after finger cleaning areas on the
underside. The handle design bears what to me to look like thistles. Would the design on the main body be considered
stamped or etched? It appears very faint in some parts.

I would say two of the bottles are replacements. Three have the same minimal etching. The mustard ( ? ) lid is broken off.
May keep an eye open for a full matching set......which won't be easy to find without the holder. (have to get Ironlord on
the lookout  ;) )

Any ideas on age or origin?

Edited to add.....buddy was such a sweet guy he threw in a set of tongs (pastry?) as well, all for $5. Not sure if they're
of any real age, will post them later.....batteries died again.

Nice design!

Typically this style was popular in the early 1900's to 1940s.

In pristine condition $15 - $20
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

In regards to the "quadruple plated" term, I researched online just now and found some info for you.

I think, and hope, that it helps you out.
