"Last Supper" Wall Tapestry from Turkey
« on: July 23, 2010, 05:01:36 pm »
I got this wall tapestry from my dad. He was in the Air Force when he turned 17. He spent a good time in Turkey. While he was there he brought back a few of these.

He brought this back when he was 21, wich was almost 27 years ago.

It has been kept up. Some wear from old age, Used to hang in a church that he was a preacher at.

Im just wondering what is this worth? Does anyone have a clue?

Hi stevieterry!  Welcome to the forum.

These types of tapestries were very common for the tourist trade and still are today in that part of the world. Unless this was woven with some special silk or hung in a very special place in Turkey then it was commonplace.

The really nice thing about your item is that it was used in your father's church and was revered/loved.  It has some great history and would be a nice item to pass down through your family or church parishioners.

Looks like there are a few issues appearing on the edges of your tapestry that need to be addressed for it to successfully be for the next 20+ or 30+ years to come!
