PAUL'S Pitcher made in Belgium with Fish Handle
« on: March 24, 2004, 10:30:35 am »
Hello,
Could someone please tell me if they know anything about an antique pitcher that is mostly dark green, but on the front there is a circle of white background with a ship as a focal point?  The ship is mustard-yellow and lavendaer with purplish-colored water under it.  The back of the pitcher has gold leaves handpainted all over it.  The details are also outlined in 18K gold.  It is stamped on the bottom with Paul's "Made in Belgium" with the number A508.  My grandmother owned this as early as the 1950's, and now unable to talk and tell me about it.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.   flaws5@comcast.net

without a pic, I'm guessing that this is in the genre of majolica.  Browse this auction site to see if we're thinking the same -

very collectible- if you can post a pic maybe someone can get a bit closer - pic of item and bottom stamp are good -

and run a google on majolica - sometimes it is spelled differently, but use the spelling with the "j".   It's all the same product.  Sorry about G'ma - - but keep her in the "loop" if you can - memories are powerful, and she just might enjoy your interest in this wonderful sounding pitcher !
