Help needed on carlsbad teaset
« on: August 09, 2010, 10:16:45 am »
I am trying to help my dad identify and hopefully find out the value of some things he has found in his attic.
This is the first.
Its a part teaset comprising, a teapot, sugar pot, 4 saucers and 2 cups
They have a thick gold trim and have pictures in the middle
On the bottoms the markings are, a crown, J.K W DECOR CARLSBAD. Then the no 28.
I have attached photo's if this helps.
Thanks in advance

Your set was made by Josef Kuba The Josef Kuba Company was a well-respected porcelain manufacturer that originated in 1900 and operated in Karlsbad and Bohemia (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic). Following WWII and in 1945, the company relocated to Wiessau, Bavaria and resumed operations that included a Porcelain Decorating Workshop. It's main products were Bone China, Porcelain Figurines, Chinaware, Tableware, Teasets, Coffee Sets, Cup & Saucers, and Decorative Porcelain. From the makers mark on your set it was made after 1945. your set looks to be for coffee, Unfortunately the ware on your dessert plates is a big deal, porcelain collectors will pay top dollar for near PERFECT condition  - damaged next 2  nothing.  We are a picky bunch ;)  High coiled handles with footed cups  & gold design bring more $$$$ I would say $85.00 for the set.

Lovely renaissance style by  J.K. Decor, Carlsbad, Made In West Germany.  Many refer to this as the Love Story collections.  Highly collectible, especially yours with all of the gold leaf.  In mint condition with all 4 cups $145+.  With the 2 cups/4 saucers/Pot in mint condition $$80 - $130
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!
