I have a frame just like that one. I think they are late 1800's to very early 1900's in age. The picture looks like some sort of print to me, rather than a painting. I could be wrong. Either way, i don't think selling this will help you very much in getting any sort of Les Paul.

It does seem to be a print, IMO, rb25s14 .

The connotation at the end of the signature means "The younger" (much like we'd use the term 'Junior' as in :John Smith Jr.).

The cad in your print resembles the one in the unkown artists' image below (c1560).

I don't think there's a Les Paul in the future, when it comes to trading/selling your item, but perhaps you could trade it for a used Humbuckler....

Well , rb25s14 , it can be a bit tough to figure out if what you've got is a print , an embellished print , of an original/copy of an original painting , sometimes even for the experts .

Only from the images that you've posted , it appears as if the item in question was done on top of some sort of paper ... is this so ?
You can take a look at the damaged/cut/ripped areas on your item to see ...does it have a canvas/fabric backing ?

In the past museums esp. in areas of Europe would sell fairly high-quality prints of artworks in their collections , so as to generate interest in them , as well as a bit of cash ... it may be possible that you've got one of those .
Sometimes these were printed on paper , then adhered to a streched canvas with imprints or printing on the canvas that describe/name the museum , title of the painting , or even the shop that 'put them together' .

Folks have been known to remove/separate such printed works from their glued-canvas backings in order to attempt to 'fool' a buyer into thinking that an item is an 'original' .

A simple way to find out is to call around your area & find someone who does art restoration & find one who'll take a peek at it for you ... often a quick & free one .
A reputable antique dealer might be able to tell you 'in a flash' if you've got a painting or not also .
" Methinks me the 'mental' in sentimental .... "

ayy thanks for your reply.

Well the painting is definetly on canvas and on the back of the canvas there is a signature written in pencil but it is really faded. I think it might be real but I am in no rush to get rid of it. Acually last night my father and I were thinking about taking it to and art gallery so your right I should just go to an art gallery and have it checked out.

thanks brandon

O and the second frame on the back of the painting is a canvas frame. The frame that would have been painted on...
