I have seen the Wapak skillet with the indian head on the bottom but not a skillet with a fish on it.

Iron Skillets have been made all around the world and the manufacturers actually are increasing due to popular demand.  Old item, renewed interest!  Top US are Griswold, Wagner, Lodge.

So, please post a pic.

Welcome to the forum , taylor02 .

Love to see an image of the 'fish' !

The only 'fish' logo on iron pans that I've seen is of the "Bass Pro Shop" .

I was doing an internet search for info on the same type of skillet when I found this post.  I too have a 10" cast iron skillet with a raised fish on the bottom and I also have an 8" one with a raised duck.  These have no name or number or any symbols on them.  They were left in a storage room that was attached to an apartment I rented years ago.

I also noticed that there are ridges/marks around the top edge of the skillet including around the handle that my other cast iron skillets do not have.  Can this help identify it?

Anyone with info on how to identify them would be appreciated.

These appear to be new.  The grind marks do not show any wear.

Ditto. Within the last 10-15 years.

Thanks waywardangler and hosman321.  I found these in about 1994 and now that I think about it, they looked pretty new then.  I've always had an interest in antiques - finding that diamond in the rough, but never pursued it or educated myself on them so I appreciate your help!  If nothing else, they would make a good conversation peice hanging in our rustic game room once we build the house.

Even though they aren't old, they're definitely still cool. I love the fish one, great finds! Have you found anything else that might be old? We love to see what people come across. :)

I think the Griswold and Wagner forum can assist you with discovering the origins of your pan new or not! Give 'em a holler at

That fish looks like the logo for Bass Pro Shops.  Might have been a piece that they sold early on...now they have their name on it!

If you look into cast iron....they have been making "off brand" cast iron skillets for years and years.  You can find tourist cast iron pieces with names of cities, you can find cast iron skillet ash trays with everything under the sun on them...and they made cast iron skillets for "give aways" for companys (such as stove companies) for years.
