english-style vase?
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:30:54 am »
Not one of my favorites.  It's not painted on the back, and all the gold paint is wearing.  The emboss on the back reads 2 00 1.  and the only other mark is on the bottom and looks like 3R6.

anyone know what the shape of the vase is called?  It's pretty cool.

Thanks!  8)

Appears the center art is Transfer print and the Embellishments is hand painted.  very unique vase.   My guess is not really that old, post 40's maybe

The more I look at it the more convinced I am that, certainly in style,  it's probably French. What do others think? The guilding seems to be worn in places, which could suggest it has at least a bit of age, but reproductions can be very convincing. I'd hate to even try a guess at its age without being able to hold it. The artwork, as you'd probably agree with your background, isn't outstanding, nevertheless an interesting vase, although not my cup of tea.
