Needing a little help with where to start

I have no way of giving weight, at the moment, but to me it seems to be pretty heavy.  3.25" in height 15.5" diameter.

I can also add this, I tried cleaning the inside a bit, but not much because I didn't want to do any damage, but it did clean and underneath the discoloring it is silver in color.  I hope I'm helping.

As mentioned the other day, without knowing the size it is impossible to hazard a guess as to what it is, but it does look very much as if it should be a Monteith bowl.
