A bunch of antiques! Furniture glassware etc.
« on: April 04, 2011, 10:34:15 am »
Hello all!

I am looking to get advice on some antiques that were passed down by my grandfather. I am trying to help my mom out by getting an idea of what they are worth etc. She has some additional documentation on period times that the pieces are from, that I will be adding soon. In the meantime, here is the link to the picture set on flickr

Feel free to browse them and let me know your thoughts. Like i said, I will try and update this post with additional information as i get it.

Thanks for all your help!

Beautiful where to start, furniture is not my area so I will leave that to some folks here that are fabulous !!! Image 0979 your Lotus charger/ cake plate caught my eye. The shape was used by Jean Pouyat, would need photos of makers mark to be sure of dating and maker but my first guess would be Limoges second Nippon. Could hold good value depending on maker & dating. please post photos of clear makers mark and I will do some research.

Howdy!

Very interested to see more pics of #0944 table...any markings on underside? anywhere?

You have an awful lot of wonderful pieces/items there...and most need additonal pics and markings to help identify.  Might I suggest that you break out pieces and post individually or in groups of 2 - 3 items with more info to better help you get these identified.

Overall, many of your pieces (lidded candy dishes) appear to be pressed glass.  You also have a variety of cranberry glass items.  Although you won't get rich off of these they do have value.

Some of your furniture appears to be interesting...would like to know more about the drop leaf claw footed table and any underside markings and pics of underside and hinges.

^this piece looks very familiar to me, almost looks like something I just inherited as well.  I have a punch bowl that appears to have a similar pattern on it...I can't tell too well from your photos so I'll include a link to mine, do they look similar to you?

If it does, I have a little information on my piece. From what I've been told, my grandparents were given this punch bowl, glasses, and a few other pieces that matched for their wedding gift from my great grandmother (they were married around 1946). they were my great grandmother's and she received them years before that as a gift (I believe anniversary gift)...I really don't remember the story, but for whatever reason I want to say that my grandmother remembers her mother having them when she was a child, I really don't see them being a wedding gift to my great grandmother as that would date the pieces to be around late 1800's/early 1900's. My pieces have absolutely no markings on them either...

anyways, let me know if they match what you have in that one photo, and I'll definitely fill you in as I find out more information!

The pattern is known as Whirling Star.  Made by several glass companies.
