Rotary Ironer
« on: May 08, 2011, 03:12:44 pm »
My grandmother is cleaning out her basement and she is planning on throwing out a General Electric Rotary Ironer. I took some pictures of it. I wanted to know if this is worth anything?

Hi!  Nice piece of history! This is also referred to as a Mangle Iron (named by original rotary iron by Ironite) or a Mangler.  If you google under that you will find alot more information.

Your rotary iron was produced in the 1930 time period by GE.  Here is a little bit of history to add to your piece.

These GE are not a high dollar item for consumers these days...but the right person coming along will pay something for it!  One sold for $81 plus S/H April 2011 on Ebay....bet you can get up to $100 if in perfect working order and cleaned up!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

I had one once !!  When I was dumb and about 20 years old I got the bright idea that I would make extra money ironing for people !!  That was, of course, when they actually did iron clothes !!  I thought that machine would make creasing jeans easy !! Won`t even go into the results of that escapade !!  $100.is about right on price, but finding someone that wants it may be difficult !!  Not a big demand for them !!

Thank you for your feedback! I wasn't sure if it was worth anything or not.

I will let her know its worth about 100 bucks if cleaned up. Thanks again! I appreciate your time.
