Can anyone identify the purpose of these 2 items please?

HI!

I bought these two items in a box lot at an estate sale and can't find any information on them.  The wooden piece looks like it would be some sort of winding tool.  It measures 4 1/2" across the 2 dowels.

The second piece looks like  some sort of utensil.  I can't imagine what you would clamp onto it.  The piece measures 8 1/4" long.  It seems like something about 5/8" would fit into that holder at the end.

The top tool looks like what you used with a loom or with yarn. They would wrap the yarn or thread around it. I'm not sure though. It's just a guess.

I have no idea what the second one is. But found this bit of info on the writing.
"BREVETE S.D.G.D  (brevete sans guarantee du gouvernment) French commercial registration mark near equivalent to 'Patent applied for'."

ETA: With the pretty design you would think it would be used in the kitchen?

I think it is a lamb bone holder for carving.

Thanks!!  I would never  have guessed that was what it was.  I found one on Ebay #120776612347.  It has the same end but just a different handle.

Thanks, Oceans! I swear it was my late MIL whispering in my ear. I have never eaten lamb, but she cooked it for church functions quite often.
