Quick question about wooden trinket box.

I am trying to search this first so I don't have to ask. Having problems in what search term to use. Is Cloisonne only called that when it is metal? This is wood but has the metal outlines around the detail. Is there another name to use when it is on wood? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Since there are no marks. I have no idea if this is much older than the 25 years I have known the family or even where it was made. The lady who owned this kept tiny nails and screws in it.

You can see there must have been some type of sticker on it. Whether they put it there or the maker, I don't know. I left it in case it could be a clue. Just looking inside, I doubt it's too old. I thought it was staples holding it together, but once I looked closer, it's wood! The hinge is hidden, can't check for clues there. It feels quite light for the size. Any idea what the wood is?

Size: 6 7/8 by 4 inches. 2 1/8 inches in height.

If you saw it, how much would you pay for it. I won't be insulted by any response.  ;) If it's crap, it's crap.

ETA I saw these things range from $8 - 100 and up. Sheesh. Big difference.

From what I can see of the piece it doesn't look old as in antique...or even vintage.  The hinge looks crudely made (maybe I am seeing wrongly).  However, it is pleasant looking....  Just can't give a money amount from what I see.

It may not be antique or a prized wood....but it is definitely one of those what-nots that people like to purchase...whether for a coffee table or jewelry.....these sell!!!  Not for a lot of $$$ but they sell.

Balsa wood! I should have thought of that myself. I used to make crafts with it because it was easy to cut. Thanks to you both. Much appreciated!

Most all craft shops have unfinished balsa wood boxes for hobbyists !!
