I have an old English wooden flute and I’m curious about the maker. The flute is marked “Simpson, 260 Regent Street, London”. If there is a date or serial number, it’s not visible. I’m guessing that it’s in rosewood; not certain, though. Key of D, I believe.
I would like to sell this flute, but, honestly, it has seen better days. A (repaired) crack by the head joint that needs additional work, keys that were removed and the holes plugged over, corks that need replacing, and electrical tape covering part of the body. I think it could be a nice basic instrument, though, if someone wanted to invest the time in repairing it. I would like to see it being played, rather than gathering dust.
Any suggestions for a reasonable price—or is it too far gone?
