All right, let's analyze this logically.
For one thing, the color is off -- this is not a modern appliance at all! It's that almond from the 70s thru early 90s.
It has a huge vent system, so it must be a very high powered appliance. Blender would work. Hair dryer, too. What other appliances are high powered and require such an extensive venting system.
The key must lie in that knob/lever thingie at lower right. If the item in its proper position/orientation, then one presses down on that thing. For what purpose?
If the item is not in the proper orientation, then what is the proper orientation? if the vent and cord become the base, then the knob is near the top, but on the side. For what purpose?
If it's a handheld device, one wouldn't hold it near the vent -- one would hold it at the other end (which seems unlikely as there's no logical handle there), or there would be a handle underneath it, or one off toward the bottom frame of the picture. How would this item then look?
I'm leaning toward an old electric can opener, or something along those lines.
