Information on this dresser/table
« on: January 04, 2012, 09:27:54 am »
My mother bought this at an estate sale. The man had bought it from an estate sale as well. I am looking for any information anyone may have. We recently visited Windsor Castle and it looks like it could be a piece of furniture there. Got us wondering of what it may be worth.... no markings anywhere.

Is that a marble top? What is on the top of it? Can we see the back and the drawer interiors, A wild guess but it looks like a few elaborate pieces I have seen from the 1880s that were actully American made to look French but that is a uneducated guess on this. It is a fabulous piece and worth restoring if it needs it. I am really confused by all that is on the top of it. Is that just junk or really bad damage?

Looks like she has some items laying on top of it !!  I would like to see the top as well !!  I think she is in the UK so doubt it being American made !!

It is a marble top. I will take some more pictures tonight of the top and inside the drawers. It is in perfect condition. As far as I can see no restoring is needed. The stuff that was on top was some pictures I was waiting for my husband to hang in that room. We don't live in the UK. We live in the states. We had just been in Windsor for vacation. Thanks for the info and I will try to get the other pictures up soon!

Can you post a pic of the dovetails where the drawer fronts attach to the side piece !!  That is a better indicator of age !! What are the decorative pieces made of ??  Thin metal ?? And how are they attached to the case ??  Glue,,nails ???

Looks like they are attached with screws/nails. Here are a few more picks. They are made of some kind of metal

Wow, what a beautiful piece! I love it! Here is an example of the type of picture we need of the drawer. A side view of the drawer that shows how the side board is attached to the front. Thank you for posting it, it's very pretty. :)

Hello everyone. I had something come up but I do want to continue finding out what this table is, and what it may be worth. I took a few more pictures.

The pictures show the only markings that I could find on the piece. That being a number 12 that is stamped into the wood on the back of each drawer. On the underside of the marble top, it is stamped "Made in Spain".

Any and all help is appreciated!!

Figural detail

Claw foot

Joint at the front of each drawer

Joint at the back of each drawer

Top of the table with the marble removed

Stamp on the bottom of the marble top

Drawer latch

"12" on the back of each drawer
