info on small box

found this box at thrift store today its about 7 inches tall all wood , thanks for any help ,, mike

Welcome to the forum Mike! Cool little box, doe sit have any markings or names or it anywhere? Can you post another picture or two, maybe one of the inside? My first hunch is that it is maybe something from the 40s but it's hard to tell. Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

The Homer Lee Bank Note Company was located in New York City. They were absorbed into the American Bank Note Company by 1891, so your box could predate that. Maybe it was sold as a souvenir item near the area depicted on the cover.  It appears to be paper or celluloid(?) covered, perhaps intended for storing mounted photographs? It might have been a companion piece for a matching photo album?
Lots of maybes and mights here...In other words; I'm guessing.

Is it very light weight ?? Can you see that it is wood or another material ??  Could be a papier mache` souvenier box !!

I was wondering the same thing...if it was paper-mâché.

I have a papier-mâché sewing box that was my great grandmothers, then grandmothers, then mothers.....covered in silk.

Is the inside paper?  is the green part paper or material on the inside?

this is wood , and the inside is paper covered, it is lightweight
